Quick Read - 16 Nov 2020

Sometimes I wonder if things might have been better if only we took action earlier.. But later I think that all these are ujian Allah and we are being tested. Probably mom's condition would be different but we won't be as close as we are now?

Almost 3 years later and we are being given a different kind of test again. Not only towards mom but all of us are in this together. At times I wish to have a conversation with dad asking how he really felt all these years but I stop myself. What good can it bring? Probably feeling of regret? Plus I doubt he would really be completely honest with his answers. Even I would not give an honest sharing if anyone were to ask me. Different person might get different respond depending on how close I am with them or how comfortable I am to share all these personal thoughts and feelings.

Being the eldest, I tend to take the responsibility to always be the first to shoulder anything. Nowadays I realise I don't have to do that and that it's alright to get help or ask for help.

When I see both mom and dad, I see them aging and they are less strong as compared to last time. It is tiring mentally physically and emotionally not forgetting financially at times but I'm grateful to be given the chance to serve them. Probably this is my rezeki and hopefully all these will go towards my saham akhirat Insya Allah

We think we have it bad but it's only when we hear others share their experience that we realise there are others who have it even worse than us but they are still surviving and doing well.

Quick Read 2020 - Not What We Imagined

https://www.straitstimes.com/world/europe/half-of-humanity-in-coronavirus-confinement

2020. You have been a very different and challenging year. It is now May yet I forgot how the past months have been thanks to the worldwide pandemic that hit everyone hard and fast and definitely by surprise.

Some countries went on total lockdown. For Singapore, we had the Circuit Breaker (CB) which started on 7 April and was expected to end on 4 May before it was extended and now the CB will end on 1 June 2020.

With the CB in place, there has been plenty of changes to things that we used to do freely like:

- No more dining out
- No more window-shopping
- Except for F&B and essential services, all other businesses to close
- Must wear mask when you step out of the house
- And many more

The emptiness on a weekday with most stores closed

Additionally, we are observing Ramadan during CB which Hari Raya will fall on 24 May 2020 which is during CB.

Because of CB, there is no Geylang Bazaar this year :( Likely no visiting on 1st day of Hari Raya as well :(

Grocery shopping also feels weird nowadays with all the precautions in place.

Scan before you can enter the mall
Get the ok-sticker first!

I just cannot wait for things to be back to normal..

Quick Read - Where Do You Want To Go?

Yesterday I had a conversation with my sister on the places that we wish to go. My dream has always been to have all the countries stamp in my passport. That would means plenty of money because travelling requires money!!

We can always dream and work towards the dream, yes?

Therefore, here are my top 10 places (in random order) that I wish to go:

  1. Japan
  2. Korean
  3. Taiwan
  4. Bangkok
  5. India
  6. London
  7. Hong Kong
  8. Switzerland/ New Zealand
I could easily name all the places yesterday but now that I'm typing them down, I'm stuck at the balance 3 places..

Let's try again... This time with reason why I want to go each of the places:

1) Japan
For the beautiful sceneries, the culture, to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the countryside.

2) Korea
I've been to Korea before for company trip but the duration wasn't enough. This time I want to explore Itaewon and Nami Island.

3) Taiwan
I've been here before too for company trip and didn't really get to explore many places.

4) Bangkok
For the food and shopping.

5) India
Because I'm so into Bollywood it would be hilarious to miss this place out. Also because I want to visit Taj Mahal, visit Being Human stores and shop a lot of shirts like those which Salman has been promoting

6) London
To take picture with the iconic red telephone box and Buckingham Palace

7) Hong Kong
For the halal dim sum and maybe some shopping

8) Switzerland
To play ski in the snow

9) Dubai
To ride this vehicle which I forgot the name in the desert and to have the stay at desert experience.

10) France/ Italy
To explore the small town

Generally, I would want to soak in the atmosphere of each places and to explore what each place has to offer 💖

Quick Read - Do You Have Any Regrets?

Regrets. Do you have any?

I regret not joining the CCA I would have enjoyed back in secondary school.
Instead, I succumbed to peer pressure and joined volleyball which I am so bad in and didn't learn anything and quit after wasting like 1 year being in the club.

I somehow regret not appealing when I got my O level result posting even when I knew I did decently.

I regret not being more friendly and sociable then. Actually, I don't actually regret. It's more of how I wish I would have been more friendly and sociable last time. Maybe I would have more friends? But how good is that versus having small group of friends?

I regret not saving enough when I started working.

No point regretting. Life moves on. Let's be better now and in the future.
